Wishing Robin Williams only the best as he undergoes heart surgery. Williams announced today that he would postpone the rest of his nationwide stand-up comedy tour while he recuperates. This hits close to home personally, and I hope and trust Williams will be back and ready to perform in a few months -- although for such a high-energy guy, he'll have to find a way to take it easy when he does return. Here is his statement:
“I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes,” said Williams. “This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up.”
On a related note, it makes me wonder what happens to our favorite comedians when they get older and need to be cared for?
Veteran comedians and variety performers Shelley Berman, Austin "Rocky" Kalish, Hal Kanter, Gary Owens, and Paul Pumpian gathered around the lunch table recently to talk about how they're upset at a proposal to close down the Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital and long-term care units. It's part of the Saving the Lives of Our Own campaign.
Robin, there is no doubt in my mind you will be back better thanever. As I stated in my first letter I have had this surgery twice and have the T-shirts to go with them. Just slow down for a couple months then slowly start getting back nto things and you will be fine. I hope to see you back real soon. Scot. Remeber you will be up and walking the day after your surgery just stay out of the heat and you will be fine. I need you back so I can start laughing again, I have recently went through a divorce So I could use a laugh.

I know someone who had this surgery and I hope and pray he does well with it.
As for your thought FG, I guess the same thing that happens to the actors/actresses/athletes/just plain rich people with money like him. Family step in.
